To our dear community,
How are you holding up? I won’t pretend this has been easy. This is so far outside what any of us know that I often catch myself thinking it’s not even real. At a time when community, family, and friendship are needed most, we’re told to stay away and keep apart. It’s a cruel twist of fate. I'm hoping that our free gift below will help address this situation.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve considered how Acknowledge Media can support families during this unprecedented moment in time. While our clients of course appreciate the visual quality of our movies, the foundation and essence of our Legacy Films are the meaningful life story conversations that we elicit. These are conversations that do not need to happen in person. Thanks to the availability of video conferencing technology, we all can conduct face-to-face conversations with one another (and even record them for later viewing). I am trying to have daily check-ins with my parents, and have been reconnecting with family and friends.
To support the practice of connecting while apart, I teamed up with my friend and fellow video biographer Mike O'Krent to write a guide for this crazy moment in time. SHARING STORIES FROM A DISTANCE is a guide that lays out the basics for planning, conducting, and even recording your own remote story-sharing conversations with loved ones. These tools are scaled-down versions of our more comprehensive filmmaking processes. Simply click on the image to the left, and you'll be taken to the PDF where you can download or print the guide.
This is a moment when maintaining intentional connections with our loved ones will be more important than ever, whether in our homes or across the country. Let's embrace this opportunity to ask the questions and have those conversations for which we never previously had the time. On behalf of the entire Acknowledge Media team, I wish you health, safety, connection, and strength as we face the coming weeks together.
